I want to have an extention in my shed. As it would be quite easy for someone to get into I don't want them to use my phone for expensive calls

My BT bills are enormous (my own fault, I use the phone a lot) and I've been wondering whether to do without the landline altogether. I e-mail a lot, and could use my mobile for emergencies.

Would I still be able to have broadband?

Because of REN you can not have lots of phones on the same line. However I have adapted mine to REN zero so the phone is normaly not connected but lifting it connects it to the line to answer the phone. It does not ring of course but as long as at least one phone is ringing in the house you know you have a call.
Why do they not make basic phones like this so people can have as many extentions as they want.
Some BT engineer may like to answer

Signed up a few days ago, and we have spent all weekend trying to get a dial tone, and trying to keep a dial tone, and trying to regain a dial tone.
Much of that time has been spent on the phone with Vonage foreigners who can't listen and can't remember. (I like foreigners, just not Vonage's foreigners.)
Our whole weekend has been ruined, and it's not the fault of the the internet cause we have Comcast cable.
Anybody wanat to answer one? Yes, I'm a saint and I'm holy, but that doesn't cut any cheese with Vonage.

I already have a cellphone, thanks. My land line cordless phone needs replacing. The last time I bought one, the sound was awful! I returned it, tried another. And another. The 4th phone I got actually sounded good. It was GE, about $100, not that the brand is best, just that that particular model sounded fine.

I don't want to go through that again. Can anyone recommend a great cordless?

And which headset? The excellent Radio Shack model I was using is no longer made. Their newer models are clinkers.

Feedback, anyone?

I have received 6 calls from the same number in the last 30 or so hours. I called the number back and a message said “sorry to have bothered you, this is a political call” and then it hangs up on you. I’m waiting for them to call back so I can talk to them about the many phone calls.

Does anyone know how to get off a political calling list? Is there someway I can get these people in trouble? Is there a way to get around the automated voice message that hangs up on me?

Any thoughts/ideas would be great. And yes I know I could just talk to them, but so far I haven’t been able to answer my phone when they’ve called and now I’m seriously annoyed.

Thanks!

Last night I attempted to call my parents at home. Instead of reaching them, I reached a 911 call center. I checked the number I dialed and it was my parents. How could this have happened?

I have seen a 'Park and Page' system on NEC, Nortel and Panasonic telephone systems - it's provided through a 3rd party box. Does anyone know the manufacturer
