phone didnt connect to the right number?

Last night I attempted to call my parents at home. Instead of reaching them, I reached a 911 call center. I checked the number I dialed and it was my parents. How could this have happened?

A routing issue in the system. It may have time out during the dialing sequence and sent it to the 911 operator. Let you local phone company know this happened. They may not know about it yet.
