I know you can watch blu-ray DVD movies using your PS3 - but is it as good as a dedicated blu-ray DVD player? Same picture quality? All the controls - slo-mo, FF, frame advance, chapters, etc, etc. I can buy a blu-ray DVD player or a PS3 - might enjoy some game play, but it's really not important - will I wish I had just got a DVD player?

I just bought a 5.1 surround sound home theater system but I'm having trouble getting it to work. I have digital cable connected from the set top box to my samsung HDTV using an hdmi cable. I then ran an optical audio cable from the optical out on the tv to the optical in on the theater system but I am getting no sound from the system. I can get tv sound if I turn up the tv speakers but the sound is not going from the tv to the theater system. I thought the system or cables were defective but then I swithed the tv source to my wii which is connected to the tv using component cables and the sound came through the theater system just fine (through the optical cable). Is there a setting I need to adjust on my cable box or something? Maybe run the optical cable from my cable box to the theater system? I'd rather not do that latter since I may run out of optical inputs on the theater system in the future.

I get this very loud buzzing (almost like feedback but at a lower pitch) from my stereo when I hook up another pair of RCA cables to my pre amp. Why is this?

I have a pre amp and an amp. I've had them five plus years and I've never had this problem. I have a CD player and an XM Radio hooked up to it without any problems. I'm trying to hook my Nintendo Wii up to the stereo, but I get the strange noise. I also get the noise when I hook up the TV. I've tried different RCA cables, but that doesn't change anything. I've tried different plugs in the back. I've tried switching to the CD player with the TV, the CD player will work fine and the TV will give the sound.

What's really weird is that I can hook up the RCA cable, I get the noise, I then turn the amp off and I still get the noise! How is this even possibile when I've turned the power off from the amp?

I just want to be able to run my Wii through my stereo! This shouldn't be that hard.

Remember when CDs were the digital audio standard. They came out with HD CDs but never caught on. They were killed by the MP3 which was replaced by MP4 in WMA and AAC.

Is this on the virge of happening with Video? I use netflix and really enjoy their online selection of videos.. It is so nice to have instant access to what I want to watch. I can't help but wonder if this is where Video is currently going.

What seems to be happening is that I have the sound coming into the computer on the Line in from my Satelite reciever. When I go to watch Live tv under Media center, I can see the show but there is like a 1 sec lag. Also the sound from line in seems to be coming from the speakers the entire time. Even when I play an MP3 I still hear it, but can faintly hear my MP3. Does anyone know how I can resolve this?

I bought component video and audio cables, but am unsure if these are right for my needs.

I have to hook up a 46 inch TV, Bose 3-2-1 and my cable box.

Im thinking component video will be from cable box to TV and audio will be from Bose receiver to TV.

Is this right? Thanks for your help

I've heard very conflicting reports...

If there is a difference I was told that I can get the cheapest HDMI cables and visually they are the same as the more expensive ones b/c the signal is digital. Is that true?

BTW I have a Sony Wega 720p 50" HDTV. Thanks!!!

I have come across a motorized projector screen but it is missing the toggle switch to lower and raise the screen. All it has are three wires from the motor. A Red, White and Black.

My question is this: How do I create a switch that will raise and lower the screen while powering the motor?

are their any other questions i should ask?
