Usually you have to set the dvd player up to output over the component cables. (the red, green and blue) To do that you actually hook up both the component cables and the composite. that is the yellow. then with the tv on the input that the yellow cable is connected to you change the setting to output over component and possable even progressive scan. then you go back to the input with the component and you should have a picture.

Fact. Component has 3 video cables Green, Red, Blue

Green is the most important. It provides SYNC and black/white picture. So, if you don't get a b/w picture with just green, there may be 3 possible issues:

1. Bad cable or bad connection
2. DVD is not working
3. TV is not working

a) Check composite video (yellow) is that working?
b) If composite is working, check if your DVD player has a special menu option to output component (most don't )

Replace the "green" cable with another one (say, the "blue") and see if at least you get a b/white picture (green to green).
If that works, then replace your cable.

you did buy the input wires with 3 coming out right? i know you already put this but this keeps my brain working.. red to red , white to white (thats the sound) yellow to yellow which is video. make sure in the back of each dvd and tv that your yellow wire is on the video out (dvd) and yellow wire is on video in on back of tv.. if all else fails read the manual...
