By hd then i presume you mean hd dvd. The only players that can play both hd dvd and blu ray are hybrid players and they are expensive at the moment.

PS3, It's just won a What Hi-Fi award for the best DVD/HD player for between £300-£500 in competition with stand alone players.
Take no notice of the thumbs downers, it's a high performer.
