Both are new technologies, so first off to find a reasonably priced one is very difficult to do. Also they are two medias that competing so that means that the price is even higher. But to answer your question an LG BH100 looks like the cheapest.

By hd then i presume you mean hd dvd. The only players that can play both hd dvd and blu ray are hybrid players and they are expensive at the moment.

PS3, It's just won a What Hi-Fi award for the best DVD/HD player for between £300-£500 in competition with stand alone players.
Take no notice of the thumbs downers, it's a high performer.

get on line on your tv only 400 $
