I don't know where you get 10 choices, but for HDTV your TV will automatically scale whatever it gets to match your display resolution. If your TV is 720p (display), then it is probably best to use 720p output from direcTV. If your TV is 1080p, set the DirecTV box to 1080i output (it won't do 1080p and your TV probably won't accept it, but it will display 1080p even with a 1080i input). For HDTV you MUST select either 720p or 1080i from you DirecTV receiver.

As far as the video is concerned, you should have

it set on the highest resolution your HDTV is able

to decode (e.g. 1080i or 1080p for most new sets).


As for audio, set it on stereo downmix if you are only

running two speakers, or 5.1 surround if you have a

surround sound system with 5 speakers and a sub...
