What is the danger when we cook with a gas oven? What can make it explode?

Retok - I have a question for you! What in hell caused you to post a question like this in the home theater electronics forum, where the discussion is centered around technical home theater system and TV operational and electronics questions?

Next time you want to post, try going to Yahoo Answers Categories and see if you can find one of the 50+ forums that actually fit.

However, the benefit of a question like this here is that it provides a place for people who are dying to post SOMETHING, but only have experience with the $89 special "home theater system" from WalMart, if that. lol

There is no reason to be afraid of a gas oven. They are quite safe to cook in.

What can make on explode is if the gas is turned on with out the oven lighting. Then if there was a spark somewhere it could cause the gas to explode. However, modern stoves are loaded with safety features that make that very difficult to happen.

If used properly and if the oven and connections are in good repair their is nothing wrong with gas ovens. The danger from natural gas or propane or butane is what happens if the gas is allowed to escape into a closed area (such as a house) and then allowed to ignite. In that instance, the gas will cause an explosion.

The other danger is simply that of displacing all of the oxygen in a room causing asphyxia. This rarely happens in modern times due to the warning odor that has been added to natural gas.

Maybe if you had a huge gas leak it could explode! You would need a spark to set it off!
