I am trying to purchase an entry level digital SLR camera that would be ideal for shooting in low light situations like coffee houses, rock concerts, city streets at night. I have tried out the canon 20d and really liked it, but I was wondering if anyone had any other suggestions, so I can be confident in my future purchase. Does nikon make a DSLR that works well in low light?

I just bought a new digital camera and have discovered for the first time, the ISO setting.

I tried to read about what this setting can do when it's changed, and I'm getting mixed explanations.

From what I gather, a higher ISO setting will reduce the effects of camera shake and reduce the blur if my hand is moving a bit when I snap the picture. Is this correct?

I also read that for taking low-light pictures I should use a low setting ISO because it becomes more sensitive to light. But I've also heard that low light pictures should be taken with the high level ISO. Assuming I don't want to use flash in the picture, which ISO setting should I use if I want to take a good quality low light picture? (High or Low)

I guess my main questions are: (High or Low # ISO)
Which setting will reduce camera shake?
Which setting should I use for low light, non-flash pictures?
Which setting is optimal for my default setting (Everyday pictures) 200? 400? 800?...???

I am new to shooting SLRs and was wondering if I have a roll of film with some exposures already on it, and I change my lens, will it damage (expose) the film already in the camera?

I bought a 1GB memory stick for my Sony 3.1 almost a year ago because I am an ardent photographer. It has worked well until recently when it began to show a memory stick error.I pulled out the stick and pushed it back in.That worked for a while then I got a format error.I worked on the format then I got the C1301 or something error. A photographer friend erased the memory stick and saved the photos to his laptop. He transferred them to a jump drive (or something) and loaded them into my computer.I am thankful but the camera still does not work.He said that it may have a virus and I may need a new memory stick. He put one in but still got a memory stick error. We changed the batteries too. Nothing. Does anyone have any ideas about what I can do now?I need a digital camera handy for those blue (king) herons, cranes,Pacific sea snakes in the Atlantic and shower of golden flowers with an inimitable fragrance. Please help me!

I have a HP Photosmart 620, and everytime I try to unload my photos, it shows that the program is running, but it never shows up. Even after I close all my other programs, it never shows up. Does anyone know how to fix this? Or do you know of an alternative way to get my pictures downloaded to my computer? Thanks.

I was deciding between the Nikon D80 and Canon Rebel XTi and read that the Nikon has CCD while Canon has CMOS. Which has better picture quality.

I have been reviewing the specs on the Fuji Finepix S5000, S6500 and S9500 along with the Panasonic Lumix DMC FZ5, FZ20 and FZ30 - Ignoring the price differneces in these cameras can anyone advise which is best, even personal opinion, I would like to know what users think rather than the companies who make them ! ! - One the most important factors is image stability as I can shake sometimes ! !

We bought a digital camera a couple of years ago, and all the magazines reviewed the features, the megapixels, the picture quality, but none said that often a digital camera took so long between button press and shutter release that the subject had moved, or even gone, by the time the picture was eventually taken. I've tried several things, but even my fully automatic film camera was instant compared to a digital. Why doesn't anyone mention this?

I just bought a digital camera that uses a Canon Brand Li-ion battery. Aparantly, it lasts about 160 pictures with flash, which seems good!

But the bad thing about rechargable batteries is if you run out of charge, you can't just go to the nearest store and buy some more. So I want to get an extra one or two for when I'm on vacation. Buying the replacment bettery from Canon is $70.00 plus shipping. I can find generic brands for SOOO much less, and they say that they're compatible with my camera.

I'm worried about the chance that they could break or damage my camera, as well as if I can use my charger for the new generic battery.

Has anyone used generic batteries for their camera, and if so, did they work okay? I'm torn because AA batteries in other cameras don't damage them even if you buy a cheap brand, but is it the same with specialized batteries... I'm not sure!

I am in a first year photography class, and we use Nixon cameras with TRI-X 400 black and white film. The ISO is supposed to be set to 400, but I have no idea what ISO really does, and I accidently took my first three or four pictures with it on ISO 6400. Luckily I caught it soon enough, but what effect will that have? Is it possible those first few could still turn out?
