I'm totally new at this Photography thing. Can someone recommend me a good SLR Camera with High Quality that is 0-300$ and is still a pretty new model? And it has to be able to be brought in Canada.

The cheapest DSLR that is worth owning is probably the Pentax K110D, and this is coming from a Nikon fan.

This is a decent camera.

Check out this set-up. You can get the body, the "kit" lens for $440 after a rebate from B&H Photo in New York. This INCLUDES a good memory card, too. (Rebate ends 3-27-07) You can find B&H by going to Yahoo! Shopping, as they are one of the retailers that Yahoo! links to.

"Pentax K110D, 6.1 Megapixel, SLR, Digital Camera Kit with Pentax Zoom Super Wide Angle SMCP-DA 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 AL Autofocus Lens and Sandisk 2GB Ultra II Secure Digital (SD) Card"

Hello! I would recommend going with an SLR from the Canon EOS Rebel lineup. I think a really good model for you would be the K2 or should you want a step up get the T2 which a bit faster. Canon has been around for a long time, have many, many accessories and lenses, and takes good pictures. Get the kit which would probably have a 28-90mm lens. I have two Canon Rebels which I love. Aside from having your camera friend, you will need either a TRIPOD or MONOPOD to give you support. Get a tripod with either a ballhead or at least with a 3way panhead with the proper vertical pan (i.e. one which the flash on the camera is on top and not below). Usually the tripods with the panhandle on the right will have the vertical panning situated to have flash on the top. You could get the OSN model tripod at Walmart for $30. A good quality monopod is a Velbon UP4000, but you'll need a $15-20 compact ballhead (i.e. Sunpak's etc.). You don't need a more expensive monopod and ballhead unless YOU would want one. Read books on photography, when seeing pictures ask yourself "How would I have done that"? etc. Photography is about developing your ability to SEE what others do not. For a look on Canon's SLR's, go to www.canonusa.com (if you're in the USA). Good luck... and don't be afraid to experiment!

There are 3 makes of digital slr cameras you ought to look at Canon, Nikon and Fuji, attempt out all 3 and notice which one feels right for you, take time inclusive of your determination by way of fact in case you start to purchase lenses this is costly in case you alter from say Nikon to Canon, the Fuji comes with a Nikon mount. you ought to attempt all 3 after which you may make up your ideas

Hi. I prefer using Pentax brands. They are simple, not that complicated, user friendly, inexpensive. Besides, if your Dad or anyone that you know has old lenses for the Manual type Pentax, you can still use them in the newer digital SLRs. I recently bought a Pentax 1st DL and it works great. I also have an older Pentax MX with several lenses and I sometimes use my old lenses with my new camera with no problem. It is relatively cheap too.
