best macro lens for rebel txi?

i want to buy a macro lens for this camera any suggestions on what to buy?

I see that the 100 mm sells for $469 and the 180 mm sells for $1,215. Wow.

Canon also makes a 50 mm macro lens, but it only goes to a 1:2 reproduction instead of "true macro" 1:1. There is a converter available to get 1:1, but on your XTi, with 10 MP to play with, you can do a lot in post-processing with Photoshop, etc., to overcome the limitation of 1:2 reproduction. The 50 mm lens sells for $229, so it's a lot easier on the budget.
