I'm looking for a digital camera and I have been researching Kodak's easy share cameras. I need it for general picture taking nothing too fancy. Do any of you have one? If so, what do you think about it?

I DON'T need a digicam that can hold hundreds of pics. This camera is for a business so the pics I take will be taken off fairly quickly. This also means I need good quality, high-definition pictures (some cameras don't take good up-close, highdef pics but I need one that does). Any suggestions for a reasonably priced camera that fits my requirements?

I have a Canon digital Camera with 3.2x zoom and I accidentally dropped it. The actual lense isnt broken, but the metal thing that physically goes in and out is bent to one side and it tries to retract it and such but it just wont budge. It also wont let me view any taken pictures or anything like that. After a few attemps at zooming, the screen (which is always black) says e18 on it. Any help?

canon EOS 400D (rebel XTi) has crop factor of 1.6x .
kit lens is 18-55mm.
my question: is 18-55mm the 35mm equivalent or (18-55)x1.6= 28.8-88mm the 35 mm equivalent.

Also for lenses in general, is the focal length given in specifications 35mm equivalent ?

Preferably something with a decent zoom, depth of field, and something that fits well in my hands (not necessarily small, because small ones can be hard to capture the exact framing you're looking for).

Also, I'm looking at prices under $400.

Arigatou.

I'm not too good at the lingo, but I'm basically looking for a good value camera, willing to pay up to around $300. Want something compact and easy to use with a good battery and obviously good quality - possibly SLR, although I've never used one before. Any suggestions on a good one? ~I don't have much time to browse, just in NY for a few days, and I'm not good on the lingo - what should I look out for?

Im. trying to buy a camera and my problem is that i've never owned one before. I did a little research and there are a few cameras that seemed really good. Which is better if i want durability, quality, and style? (in that order)
a Olympus stylus 720 SW (the waterproof, shockproof),
Sony Cyber-shot DSC-T50,
Casio Exilim Zoom EX-Z70,
or a Cannon PowerShot SD700 IS Digital ELPH.
if u know any other cameras that are great pls. tell me

I made the mistake of thinking I could replace the LCD screen myself because of a few tutorials online (and the idea that I would save money over trying to get it repaired/replaced). After replacing the screen and turning it on I got a white screen (indicating a cable was loose). After fooling around trying to get the cables in better I tried turning it on and now I have no power at all. I've taken it apart and put it together 2 times with no luck. I know the battery is good. There's no ac adapter to test with. Have I fried something somehow, shorted a circuit, or is there something I'm missing? More importantly, what are my options? Is it better to just buy a new one (~$300) or see if a camera repair shop can fix it (I live about an hour away from a larger city that might be able to do something so it's out of the way but I'm willing if it will help)?
