Nikon is a very reputable company - if they say it can - you can trust them.

However, there's a recall on some of these batteries.

Mate I don't understand your question.

I own a Nikon D50, which uses the EN-EL3a battery, I get about 700 shots on a recharge.

I also own a Nikon D80 which uses the EN-EL3e battery, likewise it appears to get about 700 shots on a recharge.

IF you happen to be buying a Nikon D80, you might want to consider buying the MB-D80 battery pack for it, this allows for 2 EN-EL3e batteries BUT also allows you to use 6 "AA" batteries if you wish, then you can use any type you want. I have 6 lithium AA batteries in my holder on standby just in case!

yes you can the cahrger tells you when it has been fully cahrged or not.
