I'm planning on buying a sony 5.1 home theater system and hooking it up through the optical digital outport of my directv box. Would I then be getting 5.1 surround sound on all channels?

If the answer is no, would upgrading my directv equipment to HD (which I eventually plan on doing) result in getting all channels in 5.1?

Hi,
I'm wondered,if there is a way to watch satellite tv channels for free in the US without beign a subscriber to a local cable or Satellite TV company>
I've been to Europe and my friends had some kind of pirate-made cards for receivers to watch satellite tv for free.
Could I buy a satellite system over Ebay?
If yes, could someone suggest me any decent satellite systems on the market?

My camera just out of the blue started acting crazy. When I turn it on the lens cover only opens half way. When I turn it off the lens cover opens all the way. If I push zoom on the camera the lens cover closes all the way, and it won't let me zoom past 1.6. The camera won't take pictures. It's like the lens is stuck.

I've tried replacing the batteries. I NEED HELP!

I just got a pair of SHURE E2C headphones and I thought they sounded great at first. I then started to notice that on the right side speaker I could hear the vocals louder than on the left side. Is this normal? I know that the Shure's are supposed to be good at seperating sounds and let you listen to what the artist truly intendo, so im not sure. I use a 30 gig Ipod with apple lossless with either no EQ or on Rock EQ. I use my Bose IE headphones and the sound is equal on both sounds but then again they have a muddier sound than the shures. Plaese Help, thanks.

I have an ipod speaker unit, called "travel sound." It can be powered by batteries or be plugged into the wall. However, since it didn't come with a wall adapter, I searched my house for one that fit. Finally, I did find a wall adapter whose plug fit into the unit and the speaker unit powered on.
Within a minute, the unit started smoking, and I immediately unplugged.
Is it possible that, while there may be more than one kind of wall adapter that works for this, some may actually deliver too much power and destroy the unit? OR....is this just a really cheap, poorly designed piece of equipment?
(I am certain not much $ was spent on it)

Ok here is the bottome Line, I have the Wii, PS2, Gamecube never owned a microsoft system but always heard good things. It will be mainly played by kids ages 7-14 and a little Madden and NCAA football for me. So which is the better system PS3 or XBOX 360 Elite, I will be purchasing one this weekend for my sons B-day and I need to make up my mind.

There is a red icon on the screen with a hand that appears to have fingers cutoff to the side. I have try adjusting the exposure value, and notice small changes, but not enough to get a picture worth keeping.

It's a Pentax K10D D-SLR, they're available in Australia but I'm saving a few hundred dollars if I grab this deal. Is possible for it to work here? I know we run on different voltages and whatnot, but is there stuff you can buy to correct that? How much would it cost extra for it? Would there be any problems charging the battery or transferring photos w/ USB?

There's a good reason. My 4 year old daughter turned it on, then shoved the part that zooms back into the camera. Is there a way I can open it and do anything to fix it, or am I just out of luck? I can't find my receipt which voids the warranty. I'm a little desperate, above mentioned stinker's birthday is Saturday, and I definately will need a camera!

Many DVD movies appear as a small letterbox on my already 16:9 aspect ratio screen which is annoying after watching previews, FBI warnings and studio credits that all fill the screen and seem to be formatted perfectly. When the actual movie starts and the image shrinks to a postage stamp. I have tried changing the format to fill the screen but it never quite fills it properly.

I recently received a Mikomi 5.1 surround sound system as a gift but cannot get it working! The manual has this an image of a DVD player, which clearly has 6 outputs especially for a 5.1 system: http://i241.photobucket.com/albums/ff208/baldylocks999/speakers.jpg

But i can't find a DVD player anywhere with these outputs. Mine looks like this:

I am trying to decide which of those systems I should get. I already have a PS2 and a computer but I am looking to upgrade both to the new versions. The only reason why I would want a Wii would be to entertain friends becasue it seems like it would be fun for multiplayer stuff. I love the PS2 but have not tried out the PS3 yet. And the only reason why I want a computer is becasue it is kind of necessary in everyday life. Anyway, any advice would be appreciated. Please don't tell me to get am Xbox 360 becasue I don't want one and never will (well at least not until the fix the hardware).
