I recently received a Mikomi 5.1 surround sound system as a gift but cannot get it working! The manual has this an image of a DVD player, which clearly has 6 outputs especially for a 5.1 system: http://i241.photobucket.com/albums/ff208/baldylocks999/speakers.jpg

But i can't find a DVD player anywhere with these outputs. Mine looks like this:

...which is clearly not the same, lol. please help! thanks in advance

The Mikomi system you got does NOT have a surround sound decoder built into it. It is dependent on the DVD player hooked up to it to have the decoder with 6 channel analog outputs which is why you see the 6 outputs on the DVD player. While those types of players are available they are not common and thus much more expensive. My advice would be to get another surround sound system that has the coax digital input to match your dvd player - it will be cheaper in the long run - especially if you end up buying replacement dvd players.

Here is a model, but I highly recommend using a receiver for channel management. These units most often are higher end and will cost a pretty penny.

If you are set on using this system, I would say to get a cheap DVD player and receiver, since these are not know for the best audio quality and all you want from the receiver is it decoder and channel bass management. Hook up the DVD to the receiver and the speakers to the audio preouts to your speaker system.

This kind of issue is why most people when wanting to buy electronics as a gift shouldn't, give a gift card next time everyone.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

Unfortunately, Your player is designed to output 5.1 through it's optical output and your surround sound system is designed to accept analog only inputs.

You will either need to buy another surround sound system with optical digital inputs (Best)

or another DVD player with six-outputs (OK).

Han Solo wouldn't steer you wrong...But if you look on eBay you can find Denon's PREVIOUS versions of that model of around $100 brand new, sealed in a box...We love ours.

In fact, most "DVD-Audio" and "SACD" disc players have the RCA output for each speaker (and sub)...If you search along those lines, you'll find a good deal.

I'm afraid that you will need a new DVD player. There are plenty available that support 5.1. Just ask at any electrical store.

the reason being that the audio "IN" of your residing house theater device is hooked up in common terms contained in the DVD participant particularly than your television. It in common terms produces the sound that comes out of your DVD. you ought to connect the Audio "OUT" of your television(if there is), popular in recording television exhibits, to Audio "IN" of your HT-X50. this could paintings yet i'm not sure if it might produce a sorround sound. front and center will paintings yet I doubt the rear audio device because of the fact maximum television exhibits would not help 5.a million or larger. wish this could help.

That is odd. Get a different SS system that accepts a coaxial digital input.
