Sony DSC-S500 - anyone a camera expert?

Question

My camera just out of the blue started acting crazy. When I turn it on the lens cover only opens half way. When I turn it off the lens cover opens all the way. If I push zoom on the camera the lens cover closes all the way, and it won't let me zoom past 1.6. The camera won't take pictures. It's like the lens is stuck.

I've tried replacing the batteries. I NEED HELP!

Apparently your camera has given up the ghost and is now useful as a paperweight.

You can send it in for a repair estimate but realistically repair will likely cost more than a new camera.
