I have just finished installing my windows update for the first time, and now when i take a look at my add or remove programs file there has been at least twenty files with the name "Security Update for Windows Xp" ending with a different number in parenthesis.

The same situation has happened with another file named "Windows Xp Hotfix" also ending with different numbers in parentheses.

now my question is:
For all you that have frequently downloaded and installed the Windows updates is it normal to have several of the updates installed with the same name (except with alternating numbers) or is this a mistake on my system? Is it possible that my system installed the same updates more than twenty times?

I used it in the morning as usual on my work ( a school in Japan) computer. In the afternoon the icon had disappeared from IE and Mozilla. The admin tried to find the cause and tried reinstalling, but it would not work though the passwords are still actually on the admin site locked but we are unable to access them. After an hour or two roboform disappeared from my programs list and from
the control panel and from anywhere else that I can access. Anyway it is a mystery even to the lan office folks. All attempts to reinstall are blocked. The computer security is very strong at this rather large school by the way. If anyone can solve the mystery I would be very grateful.

How do I see the size of folders in Windows Exploerer in Windows XP? In Windows Expolorer there's a column for size. It shows the size of each file, but for folder's it's just blank. That's really annoying because today I was trying to copy 10GB of folders to 2GB USB thumb drives. Is there a way to make Windows Explorer show the size of each folder? I know a real file manager like Directory Opus can do it but I was on a work computer where I'm not allowed to install software. I DO NOT WANT TO RIGHT CLICK ON EACH FOLDER ONE AT A TIME AND SELECT PROPERTIES! I'm talking about dozens of folders.

How does this thing work? It's always wrong, for some reason mine says "you have 6554 unread mail messages" which is definately not true.
How do i remove this unread mail messages, and whats up with it? is it a bug?

On my computer, when I use MS Word 97, it no longer will save input nor will it print out. It just gives me an error message saying it will report it to Microsoft. Whew! Anybody know what I can do to fix this matter?

So Windows defender goes though and finds a few issues, and I select quarantine and remove for a few of each. However, it seems to just be hanging and otherwise taking far too long at "Taking actions..."

I had to do a PC restore (from an old CPU), and put my outlook info. in 2 a backup DVD & have copied files to a new computer (w/Windows Vista) in 2 the outlook folder. I know how to import, but what I'm trying to import are not .pst files. (?) I have 3 diff. Outlook email accounts, & I'm trying to import contacts from one of them. What I see are .srs and .nk2 and .dat files (in Outlook folder etc.). I tried converting the .srs or office data file in 2 a .pst file, by renaming it, but when I import, it's still telling me that it's not a personal file folder. I'm sure I'm missing something, or doing something wrong. I understand that the .srs file is a 'Send Receive Settings' and that .Nk2 file is a 'Nickname' file. But other than that...no idea. I tried looking this up on microsoft.com, but not really seeing anything 2 help me with. I figured I should explain what I've been doing, so you don't think I haven't tried, or so u can understand my problem. I hope.

when i download something it automatically saves it to my desktop. i would much rather it just run than save. i switched back to internet explorer 7 but i would much rather have firefox if there is a solution to this problem. thanks

For my project we have to insert a picture of ourself on a powerpoint slide. I went to insert picture but my picture I guess is too large because I don't even see it except for on the slide layout....the crop option isn't highlighted so I can't crop it..can someone help
