Open your Firefox browser......go to Tools ---> Options---> Downloads
Under Download Folder.....click on: Ask me where to save every file
When you download something....just click on Run.

Firefox uses hard drive space, not RAM for a download buffer. You want to scan all downloads for viruses before you open them, otherwise you are just tempting fate.

On the menu bar go to Tools>Options.. In the "Options" dialog there is a tab in the upper left for "downloads."

The default folder for the DL buffer is the desktop, (which I prefer since they are in plain sight instead of cluttering up your hard drive with stuff you forgot you downloaded.)

So you don't get the pop-up that says "run" or "save"? either way it depends if you don't want it to save to your computer at all, or if you just don't want it on your desktop. I have a file on my desktop called "Desktop Junk" so whenever I get an un-wanted item I just drag it into that. Also you can try internet options under tools at the top of your browser see if their an option for that. Other then that I can't help you.

Yes, change the download method in Tools, Download

that's not a bug, it's a feature. you should never automatically run anything from the internet without virus-scanning it first. ok that warning aside, it seems possible by following this post: http://www.bobpaul.org/firefox.html
