Software - November 2006

ok…………I was trying to download a game that has an dmg file. ok……… it downloads but I can't open it. Everytime I try it says 'disk can not confirm'. What the HELL DOES THAT MEAN. YES I HAVE A MAC AND I'M SICK OF IT………ok I'm calm now, anyway……this has never happen to me before. Can you please tell me what is wrong with my laptop? and what should I do. I think I deleted something………gosh I don't know. I have a headach just thinking about it all over again.

I am running WIndows XP (Home). My c:/Windows folder is almost 5Gb. I noticed in the 'Add or Remove Programs' application that there are many Windows updates listed. Does clicking on the 'Remove' button for each update simply remove the update or does it uninstall the update? Some of them are over 2 years old. I'd really love to free up some space.

I'm looking for some kinda media manager software so I can convert quicktime videos to PSP video (MPEG - 4).

Im looking for software that,

works with Mac OS X Tiger
converts quicktime video to PSP video format
is FREE
fast and easy to use

One more thing, please make sure that the software actually works with Macintosh and DOES NOT COST ANYTHING!!! If you use a regular search engine (google) to find this crap, you have to make sure even if it says its free and for mac. They lie sometimes.

I have some files from an installation of an IOMega drive that I cannot get rid of from my computer. I have tried the Windows removal tool with no success and I have tried the delete command both from the dos prompt and after a safe mode reboot.

that will not allow me to try the feature I am interested in to allow me to asses the software properly I can understand the time limit on the program but surely if you need to try the software why not allow it to function so you can actually give it a trial as it will expire anyway after a week or so ? I have laid out ££££££££££££££££ on software that fails to deliver what it promises on the packaging !

I think I lost a Word document. I've been saving it as I go, but I can only find a version from a few months ago. I hate to think that I've lost 15-20 pages of writing. Is there any way to get my most recent version back? I've been saving them all under the same file name, so it's just one file with many incarnations. Yes, I've tried to search for it using the toolbar. I also used PC Inspector File Recovery, with no luck. Please help!

I had recently bought a Wifi Max for my PSP but I have know clue of how to download the software and install it so I can use the Internet on my PSP without using my computer all the time. Can someone give me a step by step process on how to download the software and to make a separate connection for I PSP. I have read the manual and it still doesn't make any sense to me.

I have Compaq Presario 5300US. I tried my recovery disk just to get it back to factorry condition> After disk finished it was fine til I rebooted. I gotten a red blinking screen that said contact Compaq. I did that and he emailed me a download that would clear the harddrive. That download was to be put on a floppy. I did that and inserted it and the screen went greenand it said to take c d out of c d rom, in which there was no disk. So now I tried to reinstall XP home from disk and it installs up to the point where it starts to copy files, It always stops at 14% and it says either I can retry by pressing enter or esc. to skip over that particular file. I tried to skip over the file but I get the same message but a differnt file to skip over.Can anyone help me with this problem for I am trying to fix this for a friend and now I'm in a bind. I am basically a beginner so if you can explain the procedure in the easiest format that would be great. Thankyou all
