I am running WIndows XP (Home). My c:/Windows folder is almost 5Gb. I noticed in the 'Add or Remove Programs' application that there are many Windows updates listed. Does clicking on the 'Remove' button for each update simply remove the update or does it uninstall the update? Some of them are over 2 years old. I'd really love to free up some space.

Yes, you can uninstall the update by doing the above process.

After you un-install it, if you check for updates, it will prompt you to download the updates.
