Software - August 2006

I bought my computer back in 2003 and it is meant for Win xp, But
after i format and partion the hard drive and then try to install Win 98 on it, it crashed onto dos, Now i want to know how can i make
Windows 98 run on my Xp Computer, Do i have to change the Motherboard? or the Processer? Hope not!!!!!!!!!!!

Windows downloaded a Windows Automatic Update, and keeps asking me to install it, however, I do not want this update, so how can I remove it. It is downloaded, not installed. I do not want this update because it is the Windows Genuine Advantage thing, and it has abselutely no point and don't want to go through the trouble if my computer is not geniune.

So how can I remove it?

My computer has 3 MB left and keeps telling me to free up space. I've noticed that the Macromedia Flash Player uses 4095 MB. Is this a program I can erase?

Can you help me with this burning stuff!!! Grrr, I can't get my mp3 files to burn correctly to an audio CD. My player in the house is only CD's and my player in the car is Mp3 compatible. However, when I burn on these new CD-RW's it is not converting over to the disc. It's there and will play on the computer, but not in any house or car players. I have "formatted" and "finalized" the finished CD - and still nothing.
I've used Roxio (which is where I'm having the most trouble) and also Windows Media Player. Actually the Win Media Player did work; however, it won't always burn, it's a hit and miss. Sometimes I press the "Start Burn" button and it doesn't do anything.

What am I doing wrong????

Okay. I went to free-codecs.com and downloaded the all-in-one codec pack. Ya know, the one that plays DivX and XviD, OGG, & AC3. But after I downloaded the torrent file. Windows Media Player & RealPlayer both say that they don't have the software to play the file. But I already downloaded it!!!! Any suggestions? Thanks.

I filmed a video vertically with my digital camera. It was imported to my computer and then I rotated it so I could see it how I wanted it, then I saved it and I have my vertical video. However, when I import it into iMovie, it puts it back horizontally. I tried to get a plugin already but since I have an intel-mac, the plugin doesn't work. Anyone know of another plugin or what I can do? Thanks.

I beat the mission new model army. Its the mission where you have to use the mini helicopter thing to pick up barrels and bombs. There are no more missions on the screen and I know I didnt beat it.

I am trying to install Gametap on my computer. It gets almost finished then I get an error message. I get 1 of 3 error messages, the wording is a bit different for each one but seems to be the same problem.
"Failed to update game info disk volume"
"Failed to mount application disk volume"
"Failed to update catalog disk volume"

I have installed it successfully on 2 computers for my kids but my husband and I can't get it installed on our computers. We both have Dell XPS 400 systems.

I have tried all the usual things such as turning off firewall and antivirus.
Gametap tech support was not much help. I'm hoping someone here has been successful in fixing this same problem.
