Im using windows xp. iam getting some unnecessary programs loading when I switch on the computer which results in slow startup. please advise me.

Yes, MSCONFIG will do the trick.

Make sure that you keep your Anti-virus running.

But you might have some spyware happening. Go to http://www.download.com and get the free versions of several anti-spyware programs like:

ad-aware - great software from LavaSoft
SpyBot Search & Destroy - also awesome software that's free.

Run these regularly. Good luck

Try to get into:

C:\Documents and Settings\All users\Start Menu\Programs\Start

and check out the direct accesses to the programs

"All users" commands over the rest of the users in your PC

You can delete or add the programs you want

Go to Mike Lin's home page and download the standalone exe version, stick it on your desktop. It's free and does a terrific job, it won't nag you like msconfig.

hi sarath, you can do it going to start, then all the programs, the start, and then eliminate what you dont want, but there are some programs who are not there, but starts when you switch on your computer.so check that too.

restart
