Windows downloaded a Windows Automatic Update, and keeps asking me to install it, however, I do not want this update, so how can I remove it. It is downloaded, not installed. I do not want this update because it is the Windows Genuine Advantage thing, and it has abselutely no point and don't want to go through the trouble if my computer is not geniune.

So how can I remove it?
Thanks!

Double click on the yellow alert that appears on the taskbar to do the update. It will bring up the list of the updates after you click on customize download. If its the Microsoft genuine check, then there should be a checkbox next to that update. Check the checkbox and on the bottom of the box, there is an option to never ask you to install this update and to bypass it. Make sure you choose that option to get rid of that alert.

You should have the option to uncheck the updates you don't want to install. You can't permanently remove the patch you don't want to install since Microsoft keeps a history of what was installed and what wasn't so that you only receive relevant patches.

Click on custom install and hit next, uncheck the update and hit finish, it will give you a box, check do not notify me of this again (I think thats what it says) and hit ok. Then, you are finished that update will never bug you again.

Left click Start button, control panel, automatic updates, turn off.

it's in your system settings. Right click on "my computer", and then click properties. Goto to "automatic updates" tab and click the radio button "turn off updates. I will down load packages manually."

You may or may not be able to abort this download but you can also download the WGA remover.
