Security - February 2007

Yahoo Msgner works but I can not access a webpage at all on IE. Also the comp will only shutdown by pushing the button. I have ran Virus & Spyware scans both, Disk Cleanup, Defrag, attempted restoring back to 3 months ago (it wouldnt or didnt affect it). Netscape Browser connection was refused when attempting to contact ie.redirect.hp.com - I do not have anymore browsers and no access to web... WHAT CAN I TRY NOW?

im not able to connect to limewire because it says my firewall is up, so i disabled windows firewall and still no luck. i was told it might be a third party firewall but i already disabled my antivirus firewall so can someone pleases tell me whats goin on.

Is it true that a virus is happening with your pictures as in you pictures are being hacked? If you go to "edit profile" then click "safe mode" then go to "images", you find random people and other things...is this a true virus?

Am I the only one that keeps installing these updates from Microsoft? I try to be informed about what I'm downloading, but the description usually just reads "a security issue has been identified that could allow an attacker to gain control of your computer." It seems to me Microsoft will never find all the "security issues" and I have years of dowloaded code a-la-Microsoft sitting on my computer doing god knows what. Should I stop dowloading this stuff? I already have Norton Internet Security installed (which I pay a ridiculous yearly fee for) and my firewall is always turned on.)

I recieved a e-mail from someone I don't know, that was titled Girl RAPED. It had a link and said to keep the pics to myself and they didn't want them getting out. I just was wondering what I should do and how I would go about reporting it. I didn't open it for fear of virus and I didn't want my computor infected. Thanks for any input!

Ok, I will try to explain this the best I can. lol I use AVG Free Edition Anti Virus thingy..and it works great, I had no viruses/worms at all since I started using it. But I had a problem with my comp and had to do a system recovery..after doing so I lost AVG...and on my way to download it, I got a worm!! After I downloaded AVG again and scanned..I had a worm and it was in like..2000 files..the worm was worm/allaple.b and I healed all the files..so I thought everything was ok. Then today I did another scan and I have worm/allaple.a now...I heal the files as they are infected..but it keeps reproducing in other files. Does anyone know of any free GOOD worm removers? or anyone know anything about this worm?? any help is greatly appreciated!!

It is a trojan and each and every time I attempt to remove it from the system, I receive the message that it can not be completely deleted from the system. Why is this happening? Anyone know what I can do to get rid of this trojan permanently?

I just got this computer from someone and the computer has a program on it... The program is the Net Nanny thing... Now I don't have the disks to reformat the computer so that is out of the question for a while... Now I need to know how to either hack the password or find someway to get past it so I can remove this program... Any help? And my friend doesn't know it either... I have defender pro antivirus.. Recently Ive been getting intrusions from an ip address that ive tracked all the way to Bejing, China.
Ive looked the intrusion up and its a Helkan worm virus... Is there anything I can do?? Im running winxp pro w/sp2.. Can I ban this ip address from my cpu somehow??
