Just bought a new lap top and installed norton 2007 immediately before i installed broadband. There seems to be a conflict, so have turned the firewall off and turned on windows firewall. Internet is working fine now. Are there any other solutions as I am aware that windows is not as good as Norton? Please don't recommend any other anti virus packages as I paid good money for this.

Let me start by saying Im not overly familiar with PCs.
Im a Mac user, so I rarely run into virus', etc.

Anyway, my wife found out someone had gotten/hacked her password for Ebay, and posted items for sale, and they had also changed where the Paypal payments go to in Ebay.
She contacted Ebay, and they delelted the bogus sales, and she changed her passwords.
3 hours later, the same person was posting the same items again on her Ebay account.

I thought I had read/heard that there was a virus/trojan for PCs that would copy all of the keystrokes while someone is surfing the net, and them send them to the hacker. Which they would then use for doing just such a deed.

She has ran her anti-virus numerous times, and it keeps coming up clean.
We have dial up service if it makes any difference.
She downloaded Napsters free trial, and a few songs, and then deleted it after she decided she didnt want it. Any connection?

Anyone have any ideas?
What to look for?
Where to look?

Thanks.

My office has blocked certain websites from our computers. I was told that several others here are going to www.freebieproxy.com and going to the sites they want. They are saying it cannot be traced. I understand that the IT guy may not be able to see the actual site you accessed but can't he tell that you are using a proxy site to bypass the firewall and access the blocked sites???

My machine's currently got Nortons on it, but it's makes everything so slow that I've had to switch off most of the functions.
And call me cheap, but I resent having to pay out extra after 6 months just so that it's not obsolete.

Okay so, a few days ago my computer had a Virus. It was using my email proxy to send out mass mailings to other computers(probably viruses). Norton was then scanning all the 100's of messages and declining them. So here's what I did:
Turned off system restore
restarted the computer in safe mode
ran Norton anti-virus
removed 32 viruses
deleted all temp. files
deleted all cookies
emptied recycling bin
then restarted computer to get it out of safe mode.(the only way I knew how to do that)

Okay...after that...computer ran great for a day.
Then took a crash again. Mouse and keyboard wouldn't work. All the mass mailing were in progress again. ggrrrr! And now it is somewhat working. All the icons on the bottom of the screen look really different. A few times when I clicked the Icon for IE it said there were not enough sources to open it. ????
What is all this about??
What can I do to fix this big mess without having to pay someone to do it??
Please help!! Thanks again!
