Security - August 2006

I want to set up a wireless internet network in my home. There are 3 laptops used by different people and I'd like if we can all use the same network, hopwever, i use my internet to pay bills, do all my banking online, and sometimes make credit card payments. Is there a very safe firewall or something that can be installed to ensure that it will be just as secure as a wired connection, even from the other people in the house?

i have scanned several times with AVG and it takes me directly to the file but it wont let me move it to the vault or delete it.

It seems to load on startup but it can 't be removed or found in the startup menu. I used a current ad removal program to try to get rid of it but no go. How do I get it off of there. I no longer have a home page.

I have Spybot and Ad-Aware se. Both scans do not show me limewire as adware. But Yahoo anti-spy does. Wats the matter? Is limewire an adware?

For some reason the last week my computer keeps turning off, saying (power saving mode) then wont come back on 4 a while. It also has started to crash when i put my cam on or have a couple of pages open, HELP.

Dear peaple , I wrote to Yahoo previously asking about my mail I believe had been hacked because my password is suddenly rejected. I am so disappointed no help has been given. What can I do to ask for a new password and retrieve my mail when I can't remember the zip code I entered previously? It is such a disgrace if Yahoo! does not provide alternatives to handle such cases.In my country, unlike the US, zip code aint popular at all. We don't use such data often. I was about to register full service by credit card, for Yahoo! with no ads, but now I am so disturbed and highly disappointed! Pleeeeeeeeeeease HELP?

i would like to test the integrity of my system and because I am using ethernet, I think that means I am on a sort of network in my apartment building. I,as a novice would like to know how to tell if someone on another computer can see my computer and can manipulate it.I do have Shield firewall

Everytime I try to remove this with Spybot or Adaware, it never gets rid of it. I would like to not reformat my pc to remove them.

This virus closes Explorer and Firefox browser when any anti virus website is typed into it. Can surf other websites. Anti virus system only flashes on and straight off when it is accessed. This virus is on a friend's machine and any advice on how to remove it will be appreciated.

It is an e mail from a site that claims to be e bay. It says here is your statement for the month....and has a link. I have reported this to e bay and they are attempting to prosecute those that try and scam the public...have they attempted this with you?
