I just got a new ram; a Kingston ValueRam 1GB DDR PC3200 333MHz/400MHz. After I got back on the computer, I checked to see the ram was installed properly. And yes, I saw the correct ram upgrade. A few hours later, my system would reboot on its own, and after that I disabled the "reboot on error" option, and got an error message the next time my system crashed. I did some research and obviously, the problem was the ram. I am currently testing the ram, working on it alone (which is working great so far), and I am hoping to see if anyone had any answers for this. Is it the socket's problem? I read on a forum that the socket might be a faulty. Others say its the ram's fault, and I don't know what to believe. Ram is working, it shows on "My Computer" properties, but my computer crashes! Please, some advice, tips, anything I didn't mention here.

I've got Vista running and I've just put a further 4 gigs of ram into two of the four slots of my motherboard to give me, in theory, 6 gigs of ram. In windows it tells me there's just over 3 gigs of ram whereas the bios tells me there's the full 6. I've run two memory tests on the ram and it tells me its all okay.

Is vista making a mistake and has anyone else experienced this? And will it only use the RAM it knows about?

I am starting a web hosting company and would like to know what stresses the system will be dealing with mainly, what kind of processor would be suitable? is there any point going for a quad core prossessor as there wont be many applications running?

If say 500-1000 users were connecting what would be the biggest issue in terms of hardware? ...RAM...CPU...Disk speed?....

cheers

Would putting a higher voltage PSU in my CPU have any risks?? What if I just buy a 1000w power supply, wouldn't it blow something? Or would it just take what it needs and leave the rest ?

Ok, I found the problem to the reason why dvd's won't work on my computer. But, I don't know what to do. This is what it said: Windows successfully loaded the device driver for this hardware but cannot find the hardware device. (Code 41)

That is what it told me. So, what should I do? Well, thanks for your help. Really appreciate it.

i am using speedfan to overclock my processor because i cannot access it from the BIOS. The only problem is, my motherboard(Asus p5r-la) does not appear on the list. I wen to the help list and it says there might be a clock generator no the list of available motherboards that is the same as mine. this is what it says

"You can even directly select your clock generator (your motherboard might have the same clock generator as another supported motherboard). "

if you guys know speedfan or anyone about overclocking could you please help? thanks alot. easy 10 points

When I start up my Vista Laptop, I get several error messages when I get to my desktop. These messages say the same thing:
Sound Card not found. Unable to do streaming!
This is from something called Virtual Sound Drive. I have no problem with my sound at all and with streaming but this is a little annoying when it pops up.

Any suggestions on how to fix it?
