Many so-called supercomputers are using Intel Quad-Core Xeon CPUs. In a scaling scheme whereas you can use as many CPUs as the O/S will permit.......you can use as many as you want, and therefore theoretically, build a system as powerful as you want.

Note that AMD-based supercomputers have been built as well. Intel-based systems, however, have yielded the best results according to the majority of manufacturers and end-users.

ibm cell processors i think. i dont know im just guessing.
