yeah found the rest of my unpartitioned hard drive but still did not add up to 250GB just has under 233GB on it

am i missing 17GBs, or do they all come that way?

yeah i found the answer

actual size of a hard drive is

250 x 0.931=232.75 which is exactly what i have on there

You're hard disk actually has 250 GB on it, the problem is that the OS is using the wrong units of measurement.

A Gigabyte (GB) is 10^9 bytes while a Gibibyte (GiB) is 2^30 bytes. The problem is that your OS is reporting Gibibytes but calling them Gigabytes. It's a common bug that OS maker really need to get around to fixing.

Yep it's normal for Windows to display less space than expected because manufacturers and software developers use different definitions for the word Gigabyte.

this is normal due to the way hard drives are formatted

either that or it's because the number of gigabytes were rounded

you have 250gb drive but you can see 233 Gb because your computer had installed operating system and some software included when you buy that computer
