hi, my father has recently bought a new hard drive for our computer (200 gb)
ok so it is installed and has been running fine, but for whatever reason my father decided to split it into a 3 40 gb drives and one 80 gb drive, i am now attempting to install a game and found that i am lacking HD space, i have compressed files, defraged, yada yada but it still not sufficient

i would like to know if it is possible to take the empty space from an existing drive and add it on the the master drive

So, I know that MP3 players (usually) have a DSP chip, which (decompresses the music files) and speeds us the processing and hence playing the music in real-time. If we had done this on software, this would be slow and so music would not be played in real time.
My question is , could somebody pl quantize this and give some numbers to put these things in perspective..like if we do it on software, what would be the rate of music playing etc..

or give another application and speed obtained when it's done on hardware and when done on software..

Thanks

I only have 20% left on my C drive. Should I use "defragment"? What would happen if I did that? Would lose some files?

I have a USB microphone and the Type-A connector broke. Can I replace that adapter by splicing on a new one?

I'm essentially trying to avoid having to buy a whole new mirophone. It seems to me that since you can replace the adapters on Cat-5 cables, etc that you should be able to do this with a USB cable too for cheap.

The adapter is a type A adapter. On the other end is the microphone. There are no connectors inbetween.

Ok, we all know that UPS are expensive as it is. And every 2-3 years you have to change the battery.

I have an APC BE325 which is a 325VA. The battery is a 12V 3Ah. There is no link to a computer so no software to test the battery or limit the use of different battery.

So I wanted to know is that could I put a car or marine battery in it to increase the backup power since they are both 12V. And is there anything to be concern about before doing that?

My computers have not been set up as a home network. They are simply standalone computers that access the same wireless router. Should I set up a home network using Windows XP (Professional)? Should I then buy a NAS storage device? Can I just buy a simple USB external storage device? Do these come with software to recognize multiple computers and backup automatically? Can this happen wirelessly?
