Ok, we all know that UPS are expensive as it is. And every 2-3 years you have to change the battery.

I have an APC BE325 which is a 325VA. The battery is a 12V 3Ah. There is no link to a computer so no software to test the battery or limit the use of different battery.

So I wanted to know is that could I put a car or marine battery in it to increase the backup power since they are both 12V. And is there anything to be concern about before doing that?

Should I worry about overheating if I use a deep cycle battery? Also would there be a problem with a much larger ah battery?

The only problem would be if you ran the battery down so low that the internal charger in the UPS overheated trying to charge it back up.
Recommend using a marine or 'deep cycle' battery rather than a regular car battery. (THAT is what is hooked into mine and my UPS is 1500VA!!)

U can connect any rechargeable battery, but few things to be in mind that the UPS charger (rectifier)must have Amp rating as battery otherwise while charging the components will blow off, higher battery take more current. And the second thing wet battery needs attention of the its electrolyte level to be maintained.

Either should be an improvement, esp. a deep cycle marine battery...just be aware of the excaping gasses of a regular lead acid type battery during charge...a sealed deep- cycle marine would be overall best.

Hi. I have a failed UPS running on a tractor battery. Just check the level of the electrolyte every once in a while (constant charge).
