can't connect to the internet and the ethernet controller, pci device, pci simple communications controller, sm bus controller, and video controller (vga compatible) are all saying the driver needs to be installed. where can i get these drivers besides the internet?

The operating system(windows xp home edition) is corrupt. Ive tried repairing it with no luck. However i know that the memory is still there. I could fix the computer but i would loose all memory. Is there a way to back it up so that when i erase the memory and fix the pc i can just load my memory from burned recordable cds?

Also the bios works, does that mean my memory is still there?

know that i got an intel pentium 4 of 3.00 GHz and thats all.
I thought i could get it through hardware prorerties but no way...
Searched in windows help but still no way to get it...

I believe my video card is now shot (died all of a sudden). I have a ATI AIW 7500 AGP video card in my PC (no on board or other video cards in the computer). The monitor status light goes to green, knowing that something is connected but no image appears. I have tried the following:

1) Hooked up my laptop to the monitor. Monitor works fine.
2) Tried resetting the monitor (Acer LCD). Same symptoms.
3) Tried entering the BIOS, but no display comes up. (No RAM check, IDE list, but I can tell from experience that the system is in the BIOS menu)
4) Tried unplugging the monitor cables and re-tightening them
5) Tried removing the video card and reseating.
6) Tried entering safe mode but I couldn't tell if I blindly selected the correct option.

The computer itself is fairly old. The video card has a DVI out which I need to use the RGA adapter that came with the card on, which imo has always put a lot of weight on the end of the video card...maybe the cause? Any help is great

Basically I want to use a new 160GB Hard Drive instead of my 80GB one which I have now.

I was wondering whether is is possible to transfer all system operations on to the new Hard Drive.

So basically I want to start up my computer and it be like I start it up usually, but I'm using the 160GB.

If it is possible can anyone tell me how to do it?

for some reason, when i type on my keyboard, the letters that have a number in the top right hand corner on them come up on the screen as the number instead of the letter. i have to hold down Fn in order to type those letters and its really annoying. can anyone tell me how to get it back to normal typing?

It used to be somewhat easy..

A Pentium 4 was better than a 3.

A 1.2Ghz was slower than a 2.5Ghz

Now with all this Core dou 2 dou Core crap I have no idea what's what. They don't even list speeds anymore. Help!

I live in the UK and I'm not too sure what I have done but now when I do ctrl 3 instead of the pound sign I now get the # sign and when I do ctrl 2 I now get the @ sign. Does anyone know how to change them back?

I got a used hard drive. I'm gonna set it as a second / slave hard drive. on the hard drive, there are four different ways to set the jumper as a slave. They are "16 heads", "15 heads", "32GB clip", and "auto spin disablo". Which one should I pick or what difference are they? Thanks.
