the documentation for your mobo shows you how the original chip was installed.

if you don't have the documentation, the mobo maker's web site has it online.

if you don't know the mobo maker and model number, run the DxDiag program from the command line -- it'll usually find it for you.

the new chip should come with install instructions -- once you have the mobo maker's instructions, you can see if and how they are different. Then you just undo the one and do the other.
