Hi. I'm 16. Well my older sister just moved out and has gone to college and all. But before she left, she helped me clean the room up and my mother had the carpet men shampoo the carpet. So that's just left with decor. I've got everything in there except for a computer.

Should I get a Desktop w/ the Flat Screen(I think that's it or something) or should I get a Laptop and why? I heard that Laptops go out quicker that Desktops. Is this true?

My computer crashed recently and its under warranty
i TOOK IT TO MY BRO'S HOUSE AND TOOK IT BACK HOME BUT DIDNT START AT MY PLACE. SO I DECIDED TO RETURN WHERE I BOUGHT IT. I GOT IT IN MAY 2005
when i took it back he said i had a SKT478 MOTHER Board WHICH HE WILL HAVE TO REPLACE AND IS RARE NOW SO if I want the new 775 Motherboards, I will be forced to change the CPU. CAN SOMEONE PLEASE ADVICE IF THIS MAN IS TRYING TO MAKE MONEY OUT OF ME OR BEING HONEST

Anybody now a good site to find motherboard manuals. All I know is it is a PC Chips motherboard, version 1.2A, P4 1.4MHZ, socket 478 with 5 PCI slots, 2 DDR 2.5 volt RAM slots, and 2 3.3volt DIMM slots. I can't find the model number anywhere. Help I need the manual and drivers. The serial number is D44KE14607820.

i found this old desktop. i could tell it was a "homeade" computer to begin with. but who ever left it behind wanted to be smart and dissamble all the wires from the mother board so i went ahead and took everything out of the tower unit. now i have all the parts out. i think i have everything but im not sure i could send you pictures if you can help. but what im looking for is a diagram or something to tell me where everything goes into the motherboard. i know quite a bit abit about computers but not that much! please help me if you can!!! email me @ zsweet36

My computer is about 3-4 years old that is currently running on 30 GB hard drive and 256mb DDR ram PC2100+, 1.73 GHz AMD Athlon. I'm not exactly sure what kind of a hard drive I have and not sure if SATA will be compatible with my somewhat outdated computer. I'm also trying to upgrade to 2x512Mb ram memory. Any comments or advices?

Went into work today and my computer wouldn't start. My co-worker powered it off through Windows Saturday night. Monitor is okay. Everything is plugged into power strip which is still on. After playing with it I decided the Power Supply was dead. Changed it out with a new one. Now the fans start, CD and DVD work but no noise from the HDD. Tried switching around the power plugs to it but no good. Any thoughts? I brought the HDD home to try it on another computer but figured I'd ask before going through the trouble.

Iv had my pc for a few years, all iv done to it is add an extra hard drive (80G) to an existing 40G one, add 64MB RAM(total 128 now), fitted a DVD rom, a slightly upgraded graphics pci card and recently an ethernet pci card.

im no pc wiz so any help would be appreciated, i think its the main processor.

its time to get a new one but i dont know what would be gd for my pc and i dont want to shell out a fortune (prob £50 max tbh)

i use my pc for low spec games (C&C, sims), internet browsing and music downloads.

any general advice on what to do to my pc to makle it run half decent for the kind of thing i do??
