IDE And ATA Hard Drives are one in the same, all you have to do is get a second ATA!!! Hard Drive and set the jumper on the back to slave (there are instructions on the box and in the actual HD on how to set the jumper) and plug in the slave section of the IDE cable in the the second HD also, you will need to check your first HD to make sure its set on master, and that your system can run in RAID

there are 2 types of ATA as follows:

- P-ATA is basically IDE,

- S-ATA is different and does not use an IDE cable.

You can use an P-ATA (40 or 80 wire cable) harddrive on any motherboard.

If you do not have an S-ATA harddrive installed in your machine the chances are your motherboard does not support it.
