the letricy went ou one day and then i turned on my computer and then i went to play a cd and the sound didnt work and i tryed to turn it up and it wont turn up or anything no sound or anything

You probably need to purchase a new sound card. Same thing happened with my PC, had a power outage and had to replace sound card because it got fried somehow. Usually a decent sound card for just playing music and sound, nothing fancy like bass, DJing, is $30-50.

Go to START, Control Panel, Sound and Audio devices,
Make sure nothing is set to mute, Test your speakers also.
If that does not work, if you have a sound card, reinstall the drivers from the CD.
If the sound is on the motherboard, reinstall the audio drivers from the Motherboard CD.
Go to START / All Programs the the entry for you audio/sound
run the test.

make sure its not muted and turn it up if the volume on the pc is to low and if it don't work then go to best buy or circut city and get a new 1 cheap
