My system is windows xp home, the computer has 80gb HDD and 256 ram, I would like to know how much HDD space I should use to make the computer faster when playing online. I do know that default setting is 1.5 times the ram in the pc - but this is not enough.

I have a 2 year old motherboard [GAMILLA2-GL6E(MS-6577)] with Intel 845GV chipset, which i think is not SATA compatible. Can I upgrade my PC with a newer 250 GB SATA drive? I also want to keep my older PATA hard drive.

going back to the pc im working I tried what you said I let the pc cool for minutes but it failed to boot up no display and the led of the keyboard(caps,num,and scroll) keeps on turning on and off(blinking) what do you think is wrong to this pc?

I just bought the ASRock 775I65G and I have done alot of research about it on the internet and I am %90 sure it is compatiable with all my other stuff but could someone just please check.

crackles are also heard when i plug my headphones into the computer. However, plugging the speakers to a separate device like the ipod doesn't elicit any crackles? I'm guessing its something to do with the computer rather than the speakers. Any idea what's wrong? Thanks

i'm thinkin about getting a different fan/htsink for an amd athlon 64. should i get a tab of thermal paste or does the processor come with some?

someone messed up the computer and now it wont even start up. so what is a way to completely erase a hard drive that does not require it actually being in the computer...i have heard freezing it or using a magnet...just want to know which is best, or if there are any other better options..

I'm building a computer and I'm a little new at this and I'm having problems. I have everything plugged in correctly according to the manual and when I turn my computer on I get no signal to the monitor. Everything powers on, the CD drives, the Harddrives, the CPU and case fan. But I don't hear a PC beep and it doesnt check my floppy drive. And I get a blank monitor. Its diamond back Razer/ lazer optical one.
It like shuts off and then I have to replug to use it again.

What does the 3800+, the Hyper Transport Technology, and the X2 mean?

and what does this mean for the processor speed? 64 3800+ / 2.40GHz

OK, I've been working with computers since the late seventies, which as well as showing my age, still begs a question.
One of my current keyboards has things like "Favorites" on it,
fair enough, but after all this I still do not see the point of the "SysRq" or as it used to be, in the same place, the "SysChk" key.
In BIOS, DOS, various platforms, it seems not to do a damn thing.

Surely there is a reason for it.
What is it for I ask ?
If I need a system check, I just crank up a bit of software.
The button seems to be useless.
I must be missing something here ..........
