when you hit any keys you get the meesage not o/s system. how do you get pass that to re-install? Thanks

first of all u need to explain more on prob like what os u got like xp 98 etc so someone can help you if u got xp you can use the cd and do a repair in safe mode that f8 ..if u got 98 u need a startup floppy disk if not u need to format hd and set bios to boot cd first then reinstall os with codes good luck..on some hd u need to pattion it and format hd to accept data like os system

Assuming you are talking WINDOWS on a machine with a CD-ROM drive. Place your Windows disk in the drive and cycle the power.
When "Any key to boot from CD" comes up, ouch a key and follow the instructions.

If you have to enable the boot from disk, you will have to go into set up for that.

Go to Microsoft.com and read about the recovery console. That requires any Win XP installation disc. It will do a NON-DESTRUCTIVE recovery of the operating system files. But, you gotta read how to use it properly.

since you dont have an OS it should be at a screen that looks like cmd prompt(MS DOS) if you can find cmd(DOS)commands you can reformat you computer that way orrrr, you computer should have came with a disc and if you put that in there it should take it back to factory settings. and if none of that works you'll have to buy a new OS,i suggest if you do this one, wait until vista comes out(end of this year, begining of next year)
