I purchased a new monitor a bigger one, but now theres this blue line going down the left side of the screen which didn't happen on my older smaller monitor. I'm pretty sure the line shows up because it was probably the boundary of my old monitor, but how can I get rid of it?

Hi guys!

I'm just confused. I have 2 LCDs to choose from, both 19", but of different makes:
1. a HP monitor, built in speakers, full screen (more square than the other one); and I've had it for 1.5 years almost; never disappoints.

2. an NEC monitor, a regular LCD, but widescreen. It's brand new, with a year warranty.

Which one would be of a better use? People are already calling in to purchase my HP, but I am not sure which one I should let go. Thanks!

Is it safe to clean eyeglasses, iPods and LCDs with regular paper towels and water?
What if they're like occasional mineral impurities implanted in some of the fibers? It only takes one..

Hi. The monitor we currently have hooked up to our Mac G5 is way too small. We have a nice 20" flat panel hooked up to a PC that is rarely used. Can we swap the two monitors and still expect them to function properly, or do we need to purchase a new monitor exclusively for the Mac G5? Thanks in advance.

I am trying to hook up my dell inspiron 9100 laptop to an external monitor. I've downloaded all the drivers, and I have the correct port, but when I connect my laptop with the monitor and press "Fn" "F8" the resolution on my laptop jumps to the lowest resolution and nothing shows up on the external monitor. I have no idea why and neither does Dell, no surprise there. Any ideas?

I bought the computer new today without a monitor. When I was setting it up, I connected my old used monitor (which was working fine on my 2003 Compaq Deskpro. However, the new Compaq Presario would not boot up, though all the power lights were on. The monitor is a few years old & it's a KDS Visual Sensations monitor.

When I called the Compaq "Help Line" (aka - "No Help Line") they first suggested the problem was that I didn't have enough RAM because the computer is loaded with the new Vista software (remember I bought the computer new in the box today). Why would someone sell a computer not capable of booting up because it wasn't equipped with enough RAM??@!

Then I was told that it was my monitor, and the "Help Line" attempted to sell me a new one over the phone.

So the question is - what is wrong with the new computer? Why won't it boot? Is it possible that the monitor is incompatible??

Thanks for your thoughtful answers....

It used to jump just on occasion. Currently it's like a pulsating jump. It's really annoying me and freaking me out. I checked the outlet and it doesn't seem to be the problem.
Is it my screen? Or my processer that is causing it? What's going on?

I want to buy a new 1680x1050 PC monitor...however, my PC is an older 2.8Ghz PIV with a 6600GT 128MB graphics card and 1 G memory. I usually play newer games (pre-2007) at 1024x768 on my 17 inch CRT with good results. I don't think I can play games a the native res of the new LCD. If I play at a lower wide-screen (or 4:3) res an I going to have serious "scaler" problems? How "bad" can this look? Does it depend on the brand of monitor? Is it worth it to buy the LCD before I upgrade my system? Thanks.
