Hi guys!

I'm just confused. I have 2 LCDs to choose from, both 19", but of different makes:
1. a HP monitor, built in speakers, full screen (more square than the other one); and I've had it for 1.5 years almost; never disappoints.

2. an NEC monitor, a regular LCD, but widescreen. It's brand new, with a year warranty.

Which one would be of a better use? People are already calling in to purchase my HP, but I am not sure which one I should let go. Thanks!

My video card is handling it fine, i guess 1440 x 900 is the preference and it works with this computer

go with the widescreen. once you go widescreen, you won't go back. it makes watching movies and rips of tv shows a joy. i sold my dvd player because i watch all of my dvds on my widescreen monitor instead of my television now. it is also useful for multitasking, since you can dock things like instant messenger windows on one side or the other and still have a full browser window. so far, in my experience, i havent missed any height from having a widescreen, but when i use a standard monitor, i definitely miss the width.

I'd go ahead and sell the HP monitor. More space widthwise with the NEC plus it's newer and would make a great monitor to watch widescreen movies on (almost all movies are shot in widescreen).

Wide screen or not is a personal preference. Wide screen does help with spreadsheets and other applications like that. My preference is toward widescreen. You need to make sure your video card can handle the wide screen aspect ratio if you chose to keep the NEC.

Right click an an empty part of the desktop, choose screen resolution. Change the orientation pull-down to landscape, then click apply. Click the down arrow at the right end of the resolution box. Select the resolution that has (recommended) next to it. Click on apply, then OK.

I would say, go with whatever has the higher native resolution and/or better picture quality.
