I am looking to buy an LCD, flat panel monitor around 17-20 inches, widescreen for about $200. I would mainly be using it for my Xbox 360 because I want to try and get as close to HD as I can without blowing thousands of dollars on an HD TV. I would also be using the monitor for my computer so that's why it would help me in both ways.

I want to connect my desktop's monitor to my laptop and use both simultaneously under Windows XP. I tried plugging the monitor into the VGA output on the laptop. It said "No signal input". Then I pressed Fn+F8 (for toggling displays). The image remained on the laptop, but the second laptop read "Signal input out of range". I pressed it again, the image disappeared from the laptop's own display, but the other display still read "Signal input out of range". The third time I pressed it it was back to image on laptop and "no signal input" on the second monitor.

I tried playing with the resolution for both displays, but all stayed the same.

Do you have any suggestions how to do it?

When I try to connect my Sony Vaio laptop (VGN-FJ1S) to my Samsung LCD TV (LE26R73B) through VGA cable, it appears that the TV receive no signal : in the sources menu of the TV, the PC source is disabled. However the laptop seems to detect the TV since it displays a max resolution corresponding to the one of the TV (1366x768, actually round to 1360x780)monitor poperties.

However no luck. I tried hooking my Samsung to another desktop, wala it works fine. Just for the heck of it I unpluged the VGA cable while the TV was on PC input and pluged it in to my vaio Laptop, and for my surprise it worked. But when I changed the TV input I couldn't get back to the PC input again.
I have already tried
- deactivate the VAIO Event Service
- update to the latest VAIO Event Service
- test with another VGA cable
- display output of another laptop to the TV : OK
- display Vaio's output to an Acer LCD monitor : OK
- reboot the laptop while VGA cable is connected

please help

When the monitor is turned on, there are patches on the screen (usually on bottom, top and sides) where the scan lines have separated, causing a double image. These patches wiggle and vibrate as they drift around the screen (think lava lamp) and take about 10 minutes to disappear completely.
Is there a fix for it? Please help!

When, I'm trying to scroll with my mouse it won't respond right and it starts scrolling up and down on it's own. Also, even when I sit the mouse still my page will start moving up and down on it's own. Is it the sensor on the mouse, the wire, problem with the monitor? Any ideas? It's very irritating!
