Can LCD monitors produce HD quality visuals?

I am looking to buy an LCD, flat panel monitor around 17-20 inches, widescreen for about $200. I would mainly be using it for my Xbox 360 because I want to try and get as close to HD as I can without blowing thousands of dollars on an HD TV. I would also be using the monitor for my computer so that's why it would help me in both ways.

Only a widescreen HD LCD monitor will produce HD quality, not a regular LCD monitor.

I have a 19" wide screen LCD and it blows me away. I use the flight simulator on it and it is great. I have mine set to 1440X900
