usually manufacturers have an internal rating about how many dead pixels constitutes a faulty device...for a 15-17" TFT monitor this number is generally 6 dead pixels. The position of the pixels also matter...if they are smack in the middle of the screen and/or interfere with the view in general , then you'll probably get a positive reply if you ask the manufacturer to replace the device for you...

I've had 2 samsung monitors with 2 or 3 dead pixels for about 3-4 years. They've worked great and I haven't had any more dead pixels show up since.

Depends on where you purchased it from and their warranty details. I purchased my 22in Widescreen LCD from Newegg a few weeks ago, and it arrived with 1 dead pixel and got another in a few days. Newegg's return policy is you have to have 8 dead pixels to return it. Honestly, they are both off to sides/corner, so I barely notice them. Only when screen is pitch black are they obvious. I guess it comes down to your own expectaions/standards of quality for your equipment.

If it doesn't bother you, then you do not need to worry about it.
