CRT or LCD... that's a tough question, but now always answered with LCD, all the way!

A cheap LCD display might have a slow refresh which will cause blury movies or games.

Now that people have wised up to this shortcoming, manufacturers publish their refresh rates on LCD models.

Compare LCD screens in the price range you want, and compare refresh rates - you'll see them rated in milliseconds, or ms.

The smaller the number the faster the refresh rate.

The faster the refresh rate - the faster the pixels can change colors - and that means no more bluring.

But to add to the fun of this new technology - you're also going to see another spec called "Contrast Ratio". This is a fancy way of saying the difference between the blackest black the screen can show and the whitest white.

The lower the number - the less dark a black pixel will be.

So take this information with you on your quest for a new LCD display. Unless you're buying from the bargin bin at kmart - most LCD models you'll find will be better than all but the most expensive CRTs.

And to top all that off - they're great for the environment, your energy bill, and don't waste a lot of desk space.

First of all Flat panel screens DOES NOT show jerky images when playing a movie unless the PC is slow.
But the best would be CRT because its cheapper than Flatscreens (thats the only thing FlatScreens have over CRT screens)

I think what you mean is a "Flat Panel" not a flat screen because a CRT can have a flat screen as well. Aside from that, I personally think flat panels are a lot better, mainly because I had a CRT once and I got a flat panel later and the space they take up and their light weight. And no, the movies aren't "jerky" at all, I think what they meant is that if the image movies too fast on a flat panel, it distorts it temporarily. Overall, flat panels are much better, plus cost effective too.

A flat screen is a CRT. A flat panel LCD can cause pixelation due to the Phase and Pixel Clock adjustments not being correct or a slow response time Look for a LCD flatpanel with a response time of at least 6ms or faster.

Flat screen (LCD or Plasma) is definitely the better choice as long as you don't buy a cheap or crappy one. The cheaper ones would have slower resoponse times, making them more jerky, but a good quality one will have just as good or better response time as a CRT and you will like it much more. Flat screens are lighter and save a lot more space as CRT as well. Despite the price difference, a good flat screen is definitely the better choice.
