my screen resolution on my monitor is 1440x900 but i can only get 1280x1024 in the setings on my cpu what shuld i set it to

update your drivers and you will probably be able to get 1440x900.

If you have and LCD monitor, all LCD screens can actually display only a single given resolution referred to as the native resolution. In this case your video card must match the native resolution (1440x900). Find out if the manufacturer of your video board in your computer has an updated driver to support 1440x900. If not you will need to buy a new video card.
If its a CRT monitor (1440x900) is maximum resolution. Do not exceed 1440 across or 900 vertical. You can set it to anything equal or less than these values. You can also check with the manufacturer of your video card for newer drivers.

just for grins, go to the display control panel,
select Advanced button
then click the adapter tab - there should be a setting for "display all modes" make sure it's listed and see if you're monitors native resolution is available.

What you might have to do is install the drivers from the CD that came with monitor.
