could be a defective mouse, try a new one, or your sensitivity is set really high and something is vibrating the desk making it skip across the screen.

Like the guys said before me....check the mouse...and where its placed....see if the desk is vibrating or moving...even just slightly it could make a mouse move....but if u did all that and u still have that problem....then you have some serious virus...or someone is trying to hack into your computer...check if u have a firewall...if you dont go get one and google provids with one year free nortan anit-virus....you can download that too..

I am guessing that the mouse you have is a laser mouse, and not a ball mouse.

A couple possible causes -

1. Your mouse cord's tension, is pulling it. Try straightening your cord, then letting go.

2. Your laser mouse is doing something weird. It happens all the time to me. All you have to do is touch it, and it should stop.

Hope this helps

if you are using a laser optic mouse or some other type that does not use a roller ball then its caused by the sensor being dirty or the pad beneith the sensor.

it could either be the vibrations of the desk your using, a problem with your mouse, or maybe even a virus or program on your computer doing it
