Trying to set up 2 monitors on 1 a laptop without dual out graphics card - in order to extend the desktop space. Can I use a Serial to USB adapter and plug the second monitor in through a USB port?

Hi all,

I've just bought a new PC with 22" widescreen Xerox monitor and Nvidia 7600 graphics card.

I've installed all the drives and it runs fine, the only problem is that when I try and run the machine as 1600x1050 the text on all my documents becomes fuzzy?

I know everythings running well because I've tried a couple of games and they run crystal clear at full resolution with all the options ticked so I know the card is doing it's job.

What can I do to cure this? If I change the screen down to smaller resolution the text becomes clear, but I lose a load of desktop workspace, which was the whole point of buying a 22 inch monitor.

Help please!

Here - for all the rude people out there, i'll rephrase what i was trying to ask in the first place:

Why is it not good to touch a CRT monitor?

1. i'm not trying to impress my bosses by sending the e-mail to them to inform them so that they could make a quick announcement in our morning meeting to remind people that it's possible the monitors could be damaged by touching them

2. i genuinely don't want the monitors ruined

3. at home i don't touch my monitor, neither does my fiance

4. static electricity from touching the screen could cause damage

5. this was NEVER about tattling

i just don't understand why people have to be so rude here. i ask questions that i genuinely want REAL-life answers to and some of the responses i receive are just mean. it's sad.

and to people that think that i should just not worry about it, it's not your monitor <------------that right there is what's ruining the world. to me that says, "i don't care, it doesn't affect me."

the reason i'm asking this question is because i constantly notice people at work touching computer screens. these are regular monitors, not CRT or LCD or whatever. i think i know that it may cause your monitor to short out after so long after touching it repeatedly?

i would like to e-mail my supervisors to let them know that it's not good to be constantly touching the screen and i need reasons why. i tried searching the internet and i really come up with nothing.

I have a dell laptop. Just recently, the monitor screen gets really really dark but I can still see some of my desktop and other stuff. It looks like the computer is shut off, but its just the screen that just turns really dark. Every time it does this, I have to reboot and when it starts back up, in about 5-10 minutes, it goes to the same very dark screen. What could be causing this? How can I fix this?

Hi my tool bar under the "green start" marker (with my inbox and yahoo, etc) is stuck vertically on the right side of my monitor.

I don't know how I moved it there, It used to be on the bottom of my screen and I am trying to move it back. Can someone walk me through the steps to get it back? Thanks!

I have a computer with an SLI video card (not aware of exact model) and I have a CRT (NEC Multi-Synch FE990)

Today when I tried to boot up, after the BIOS screen and windows load, I get a message saying "Signal Frequency is out of Range -
FH = 49.4
FV = 39.6"

I've tried starting in safe mode and my moniter displays normally, however I don't know what setting to change to fix my problem

I also have attempted a system restore with windows- hasn't worked.

Can anyone help?

When using Windows Media Center for example switching from full screen to minimized it always does this and I'm wondering why, and if it's harmful at all.
Otherwise the monitor works well, this just happens when I change resolution.

Hi there. Can anyone help please?! I'm running AutoCAD 2005 on Windows 2000 Professional and have just bought a new Belinea Artistline 22" Widescreen monitor. I can't seem to adjust it to it's full resolution and the screen within AutoCAD is really squashed/stretched, i.e. a square look like a rhombus. I've updated the driver, but still no joy. Not sure if this could be a graphics card problem? I have an ATI Rage 128 card and the computer is about 5 years old. Any advice would be much appreciated. Thanks.
