I was wonder cos i was thinking of getting a laptop, but i want to know if it have a PCMCIA slot for an exturnal modem or it is not much use of getting it.

my laptop takes so much time in booting means in switch on & when I click on start & I do turn off it doesn't shut down but when I press power button then laptop switch off.I don't want do install windows xp pro again & also don't want do formatting.Want to do work in normal mode not on safe mode.PLZ tell me the solution which is free of cost.

I know for sure that it's short-circuited.
Milk was spilled on it.

Does anyone know what could be wrong? My laptop is fairly new and the disk drive was working a few days ago. I have windows vista. Today I went to put in my Sims game cd and it won't read it. Then I put in one of my dvd's and it won't read that either...the drive runs for like a second and then it stops running. I'm getting pretty frustrated! Help please, thanks!

Hello. I am looking for a laptop under $700 (actually, $600 hopefully), and it's slim pickin's out there. I would use it to do computer journaling (as opposed to writing), tinker and view digital images, listen to music, etc. I'd like it to have a full gig of ddr2 memory, a hard drive over 80gb, burn dvd's and cd's, Vista home basic is sufficient, etc I looked at a Dell Inspiron, had it configured to cost $689... but Dell KILLS you with overpriced extended warranty. I need input soon please. Thank you.

I have been thinking of selling my computer to pay off some bills although I have never sold anything in my life so I was wondering how much do you think I could get for my computer. I woke up one morning (i left my computer on all night on accident)...and my computer had been restored to its original factory settings! After lending my laptop to a friend it has been having some very strange issues. It is very slow to start up and audio/video comes through very laggy/distorted. I opened up the task manager and the CPU usage was at 100%. I also looked at memory usage for all processes and they were through the roof, much higher than they normally are. I'm afraid a virus or program is eating away at my computer but I cannot find it. I ran Spy Bot Search & Destroy. It found about 65 problems but it said it fixed them all. As I am typing this my laptop is putting it in very slowly. Any advice would greatly be appreciated!

I have a dell lap top and the screen seems to be messed up, and I would like to make sure that it is the screen and not something else. Is it possible to plug my friend's dell monitor from her pc into my laptop to make sure it's the screen that's broken?

My laptop wouldn't charge and wouldn't turn on, so I sent it in to a local computer repair shop a week ago to get it repaired.

They now tell me that the hard drive is fried and that I owe them $130.

Do I really owe them anything since they didn't fix my computer and doesn't even turn on?

I added more ram but I would like to know if I could put in a better graphics card in it to run the game or any game for that matter. Im not that great with the insides of a computer and wondering how much it would cost to upgrade what I need to upgrade.

Sooooo my dell (laptop 1420) is quite the piece. I bought it about 3 months ago and it randomly deleted 2 of my user accounts when I reinstalled windows. When I talked to dell the best they could tell me was "sometimes it just happens". So now what? I lose all my college work and photos and stuff? Has this happened to anyone and was it fixed? My 2 accounts still appear when I turn on my computer but when I log on to my master account it says "Account Service service failed to log on". So that's another issue is I can't get onto my master account so I can't change any settings. Someone please help me!?!?

Is there anything I can have dell do about this? Can I get a new one under warranty? I'm afriad this is just going to keep happening.

Alright so I just renewed my world of warcraft subscription for the first time in about 3 months, and 3 times today my laptop just shut off as i was playing the game. The fan in my laptop is really loud and after my computer shut off the third time i went ahead and felt the underside of it and it was almost too hot too touch. I never had the problem before.It's a sony vaio, got it about 2 years ago. It has 1.86 GHz Intel Pentium M processor and 1 GB of ram so i dont think it has to do with anyover load on the system. What should i do.
