What kind of laptop is the best to buy right now. Unfortunatly it has to be windows or vista?

Either HP or SONY. I have a SONY and I think its awesome....especially good if youre into the entertainment part like watching movies and burning cds.

Run it as a Live CD first, do not install it until you make sure that WiFi and all other hardware is supported, if that is important to you.

HP, Dell, and Toshiba are all good, just make sure you get a good warranty on them. Sony's are pretty good, but they are usually a couple hundred dollars more, and have small screen sizes. Sony is good for ultraportability though.

There are some dells that you can get with xp. Vista is a horror. If you can I'd try to stay away.
