My 1st Notebook PC was a Gateway Pentium IV which I bought like 4 years ago and recently sold at 1/4 my original investment. It had an upgraded Video Card as does most of my current 3 Notebook PCs and 3 Desktop PCs.

Two of the 6 (Dell Latitude D620 and a Sony Pentium IV desktop use the on-board Intel video and truthfully I don't notice any difference but then again I am not a gamer like my kids. I should tell you that certain on-line games must give both Desktop PCs and Notebook PCs a "real workout" bec I have experienced problems on those particular ones that my son uses like viruses, spyware and he even caused the fan on Dell Desktop with factory installed Dell GeForce Video Card w/128MB memory to go bad after my Senior Technie Friend who is a supervisory bench technician told me the noise was not coming from the hard drive showing signs of failure but rather the video card fan and if you search the internet, others experience similar problems and the BAD NEWS is that the fan cannot simply be replaced, rather the manufacturers like ATI require complete video card replacement and if you buy expensive ones for Notebooks with 256MB memory ("ouch") replacement is not only tricky from what is shown in Service Manual but this upgraded Notebook PC card is costly well over $100 for part itself that normally goes bad down the road after warranty has already expired.

Pricewise you should be able to find a good one at the DELL OUTLET site between $500 and $1000 plus taxes and S&H that comes with warranty. I wholeheartedly recommend DELLs bec replacement and upgrade parts are widely available which is something I had trouble with my Gateway in fact upgraded compatible memory module and even something as simple as Battery as I had to return 2 on-line purchases bec of proof of incompatibility, but luckily I was smart to ask about return policy prior to purchase and dealt with reputable sellers.

Other Lessons Learned: (1) MEMORY at a minimum you want is 512MB and 1GB is better and 2GB even nicer. (2) BATTERY can be key esp when taking to lecture classes etc or in bookstore/library. (3) Wireless WiFi Internal Card is absolute must and BE SELECTIVE choosing INTEL PROSET 3945 G or better yet their more expensive Draft N 4965? (4) Get the biggest Hard Disk you can afford and don't settle for anything smaller than 60GB. (4) CPU if buying new Intel Duo Core should be fast enough but if buying used, then I would recommend Penitum M Centrino as your minimum and never waste your minety on Pentium III no matter how cheap bec you will be disappointed buying something worthless that might give you trouble trying to unload.

Best of Luck and Hope the Above Info Helps!

The GeForce Go 7600 will beat the crap out of anything from Intel (it's not a little better, it's way better). There's just no comparing the performance of something useful pretty much only for basic office tasks (and which can't handle pretty much any recent game) and something designed for playing current games at good quality.

OTOH the GeForce does use more power and generate more heat (along with costing more) so those who will never play demanding games on their computers may well be better off with the low performance Intel chips. For what you do it sounds like you wouldn't have a problem with integrated graphics (since it doesn't sound like you need good 3D performance).

If you are looking at which one would be best for gaming, then neither one. Most laptop type video cards are not built for any medium to high end gaming.
Either of those cards should be able to play something like world of warcraft though.

all in all the GO7600 is a little better.
