I have been thinking of selling my computer to pay off some bills although I have never sold anything in my life so I was wondering how much do you think I could get for my computer. It is a Dell Inspiron 5100. Also where would be the best place to sell it either on the internet or in the trading post or maybe both.

Ebay it. Starting price= The 60% of the price you paid minus(10% of the total times the number of years you've owned it).

So, if you paid $1000 for it 3 years ago...

You would start the price at $300.00.

Also, look at comparable prices. If this formula doesn't work on other models that are just like yours, change the starting price. Check out models for sale and models that have recently been sold.

research by using a search engine as to the current retail prices, that will give you a ball park figure to expect for your sale.

then list the item for sale, you can do this on ebay, or others of the same ilk.

there are in most communities eBay stores that will post the item on eBay handle the sale and ship it to. These places take the confusion and headache out of it for you, and take a small commission for the transaction and you get the monies.

Something to consider.

Put it on e-bay, you would have to forfeit some the sale profit for the cost of putting it on e-bay but it would be worth it. You would get more than you would if you took it to a pawn shop.

The best thing to do is ask your friends, or post on some local business, or school (depending on what you do) bulletin board.

Then there is ebay etc.
